GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR ALL SHOWS
IT IS MANDATORY THAT YOU READ ALL RULES PERTAINING TO EACH INDIVIDUAL SHOW, AS THEY ARE NOT ALWAYS THE SAME FROM SHOW TO SHOW.
AS OF 4/1/08 THE ARABIAN HALTER SCORING SYSTEM TAKES EFFECT, PLEASE REFER TO THE USEF RULE BOOK, ARABIAN HALTER DIVISION. OUR SHOWS WILL BE USING THE IN-RING PROCEDURE
EVERY CLASS OFFERED HEREIN WHICH IS COVERED BY THE RULES AND SPECIFICATIONS OF THE CURRENT USEF RULE BOOK WILL BE CONDUCTED AND JUDGED IN ACCORDANCE THEREWITH.
PLEASE NOTE WHEN FILLING OUT ENTRIES AHA requires that we print the AHA class code in the prize list and schedule. The AHA class code is the number immediately preceding the class name. When entering a class use the class number NOT the AHA class code.
ENTRIES-ALL ENTRIES SHALL BE ON THE OFFICIAL EN TRY FORM OF THE SHOW. A CHECK IN FULL for entry fees and stall fees must accompany entry blank or entries will not be accepted. NO HORSE SHOULD BE ENTERED ON MORE THAN ONE ENTRY FORM. The entry blank must be complete in every detail, including copies of all cards and registration papers. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to make sure the entry blank is complete and correct - failure to provide correct numbers and horse registration may cause the record of wins not to be properly credited. the show management reserves the right to return any incomplete entry blanks. A HORSE MUST BE ENTERED IN THE NAME OF THE LEGAL OWNER. PLEASE NOTE! EXHIBITORS SHARING STALLS, HORSES, ENTRY FEES, ETC.-WE CANNOT TAKE PARTIAL PAYMENT ON THE ENTRY FORMS. No stall will be allotted unless accompanied by a check in full for entry fees and stall fees. ENTRY FORMS MUST INCLUDE copies of both sides of horse registration papers, proof of ownership, USEF, USDF and AHA membership cards and numbers for every rider, driver, trainer, and owner, plus a negative Coggins within 12 months of show for each horse entered. All out of state horses must also present a HEALTH CERTIFICATE issued no more that 30 days prior to show. In the case of a sale or lease, it is required that a contract of the sale or lease, or statement from the owner be submitted with the copy of the registration papers(open classes only-Amateur owners see below). THERE WILL be a service charge of $50.00 added to the amount of each non-negotiable check received. SCRATCHES: The office must be notified if a horse does not intend to show in a class for which it is entered. In the case where a horse has been entered and not shown, class fees will be forfeited. CHECKOUT: all competitiors are required to checkout at the show office before leaving the show, unless EXPRESS CHECKOUT has been requested. In the final accounting for the show if any errors have been found, bills will be mailed and/or refunds sent. Anyone failing to check out with the show secretary will be assessed a $35 fee and billed accordingly, and will forfeit all prize money and/or refunds.
NOTICE as of December 1, 1999 horses shown in any OWNER class must be registered in the name of the competitor or a member of the competitior's family, as defined by USEF in Genereal Rules. The sale of a horse does not eliminate this registration requirement. Contracts of sale and/or bill of sale will not be accepted.
PLEASE NOTE: AS OF 1/1/06 ALL EXHIBITORS/OWNERS/TRAINERS/HANDLERS MUST POSSESS AN AHA COMPETITION CARD TO COMPETE. Any owner, trainer, rider, driver or handler handler who exhibits horses in the show ring or signs the entry form as a responsible person for any individual's horses at the show must be a member of AHA and have a current COMPETITION CARD or pay the Single Event fee of $10.00
ATTENTION ALL RIDERS/HANDLERS MUST SIGN THE ENTRY BLANK(PARENT IF UNDER 18) AND PROVIDE ADDRESS. THIS INCULDES WALK/TROT. ALL RIDERS/HANDLERS UNDER 18 MUST ALSO INCLUDE THEIR DATE OF BIRTH.
CALLS FOR CLASSES; as a courtesy to our exhibitors, the public address system will be used to make barn calls if possible. However, exhibitors are responsible for seeing that entries reach the gate on time and check in with the paddock master and not rely on the sound system. Classes will be called promptly and the two minute gate rule will be enforced.
REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS: Horses shown in the Purebred division must have been issued a certificate of registration from the Arabian Horse Registry of America, Inc and/or the Canandian Arabian Horse Registry or, if under one year of age, be eligible for registry, and registration applied for(exception:Art 1699V.I) and must be entered under their full registered name. Horses shown in the Half Arabian section must have been issued a certificate of registration from the Arabian Horse Assocation in the Half Arabian or the Anglo Arabian Registry or have been issued an Arabian Horse Assocation(Canadian Partbred Arabian Registry) CPAR PERMIT or if under one year of age, be eligible for registry and registration applied for and must be entered under their full registered name.
SUBSTITUTIONS: No substitutions of horses or classes will be allowed. Entry fees will be forfeited when horses are entered but not shown.
REFUSAL OF ENTRIES: The show committee reserves the right to itself of declining to receive any entry, and to return any entry fee and/or stable charges before or during the show, without being liable for compensation.
SIGNATURE: Every exhibitor, rider, driver, handler, coach and trainer or his/her agent(s) must sign an entry blank. In the case of a rider, driver or handler under the age of 18, his/her parent or guardian, or if not available, the trainer, must sign the entry blank on the minor's behalf. If any of the above persons fails to do so, his/her entrance into the ring as an exhibitor, rider, driver or handler, coach shall be construed as his/her acceptance of the rules of the competition involved and the USEF and shall ipso facto render him/her subject to said rules. Upon failure of an owner, trainer, rider, driver, handler, coach or agent(s), or parent or guardian or trainer of a minor rider, driver, or handler, to sign and entry blank as required, and upon confirmation of any such violation(s) by the steward or secretary of the competition, such person(s) shall be subject to an automatic fine of $250, imposed for each such violation.
DISQUALIFICATION: If it is ascertained that any exhibitor has made or caused to be made any false statement in regard to any animal or article exhibited, or if any exhibitor shall attempt to interfere with the judges in the performance of their duties, he or she shall be excluded from competing or exhibiting. Exhibitors are warned that any act of discourtesy or disobedience to the officials on the part of the owner, groom, rider, driver, handler will disqualify the horse from adjudication. The management reserves the right to remove any groom, horse, rider or driver from the show without being liable to compensate or damages.
STALLIONS: Stallions may be shown by Ladies or Junior exhibitors in any class except Walk Trot and Showmanship.
SHOWING OUT OF THE TRAILER: Exhibitors showing out of the trailer assume all risks and liability in doing so. Horses may not be left unattended.
DOGS: Dogs will not be permitted on the show grounds UNLESS RESTRAINED ON A LEASH and then only providing they do not cause a disturbance. Show management reserves the right to evict any dog from the show grounds.
FOOD: Food will be available on the show grounds.
RINGS: Footing in all arena's: Sand Stone mix. East Ring, West Ring, & Indoor 150' x 300', Hunter Ring 190' x 360', Practice Ring 140 x 280, Back practice ring 66' x 198'.
SCHEDULE: The committee reserves the right to combine or cancel classes or to change the order of showing. If a class is cancelled, entry fees will be refunded.
CAMPERS: They will be reserved on a first-come-first-served basis. The coast will be $35.00 per night, incules water and electric. Dump station available. No tent's are allowed per Horse Park.
PRIZE MONEY: Prize money will be mailed within 30 days of the conclusion of the show.
UNAUTHORIZED HORSES AND ANIMALS ON THE SHOW GROUNDS: Horses and other hoofed animals not entered in the show will not be allowed on the show grounds. Owners/agents will be charged $300 per unauthorized horse and said horse(s) must be removed from the grounds.
AHA MEDAL CLASSES:
AHA Hunter Seat Over Obstacles- to be shown over a course of not fewer than six obstacles with fence heights of 2'6 to 3' which must include an oxer and two changes of direction(change of leads). Two or more test of the top four contestants are required from USEF EQ113, Tests 1-7, 9-15,17-19 or EC equivalent. Only one rider per horse.
AHA Hunter Seat Not to Jump-following the rail work, all contestants are required to perform two or individual tests from AHA Article 1336.9.
AHA Saddle Seat-following the rail work, all contestants are required to perform two or more individual tests from USEF EQ119, Tests 1-15 or EC equivalent. Markers shall not be used.
AHA Reining Seat-all contestants are required to perform the rail work and a Reining pattern as outlined in USEF RN107, or EC equivalent. Other tests may be included from USEF EQ125 or EC equivalent. Dropping the bits is optional with the judge but if called for in the ring assistance, if necessary, may be had from one of the ring officials. Reins shall not be removed from the horse's neck while inspecting bits. In an AHA Reining Seat Medal class an off pattern is eliminated and is not eligable to win a medal or ribbon.
AHA Western Horsemanship -following the rail work all contestants are required to perform a minimun of four tests from USEF AR215.
PROTECTIVE HEADGEAR: Except as may otherwise be mandated by local law, all juniors riding Hunter, Jumper, and Hunter Seat Equitation section must wear properly fitting protective headgear while riding anywhere on the competition grounds, which passes or surpasses ASTM, SEI standards for equestrian use and carries the SEI tag. Harness must be secured and properly fitted. Any rider violating this rule at any time must immediately be prohibited from further riding until his headgear is properly in place. Adults are encouraged to comply with this rule, however, it is not mandatory. Except as may otherwise be mandated by local law, the Federation strongly encourages all riders, while riding anywhere on the compeition grounds, to wear protective headgear with harness secured which passes or surpasses ASTM/SEI standards for equestrian use and carries the SEI tag. It is the responsibility of the rider, or the parent or guardian or trainer of the junior exhibitor to see to it that the headgear worn complies with appropriate safety standards for protective headgear intended for equestrian use, and is properly fitted and in good condition, and the Federation, Show Committee, and Licensed Officials are not responsible for checking headgear worn for such complance.
IMDEMNITY AND NON RESPONSIBLE CLAUSE: New Jersey Half Arabian Horse Association and Arabian Horse Society of New Jersey, The Horse Park of New Jersey, and the Show Committees and Officials accept no responsibilty for the loss of any property or equipment not owned by them or for any damage to animals on exhibition at these grounds or stabling area. All horses shall be under the control and direction of the show committee but soley at the risk of the exhibitor, who will be responsible for any loss, damage, or injury to ant person, animal or property occasioned by him, his agents or employees, or by any animal owned or exhibited by him and shall indemnify the NJHAHA, the AHSNJ, The Horse Park of New Jersey, the show committees and Officials against any and all loss, damages and liability thus occasioned, including attorney fees, which may be incurred as a result thereof. The submitting of an entry form to the show secretary shall constitute an acceptance by each person signing of the provisions herein set forth.
EXCESSIVE USE OF WHIPS OR ANY OTHER CRUEL TREATMENT TO ANIMALS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED IN THE SHOW RING OR ON THE SHOW GROUNDS AND WILL BE REASON FOR DISQUALIFICATION. JUDGES MUST EXCUSE FROM THE RING, ANY HORSE SHOWN AT HALTER THAT POSSESSES A WHIP MARK (WELT) ON ANY PORTION OF THE HORSE. A WHIP MARK OR WELT IS AN INFLAMATION OF SKIN AND SUBCUTANEAUS TISSUE RESULTING IN A SWELLING AND IN EXTREME CASES IS AN ABRASION OR LACERATION. THE CARDINAL SIGNS OF INFLAMATION INCLUDE HEAT, PAIN(SENSITIVITY TO PALPATION) AND SWELLING. THE JUDGE(S) FINDING OF FACT WITH RESPECT TO THE PRESENCE OR ABSENCE OF A WHIP MARK (WELT) EVIDENT DURING A CLASS SHALL BE FINAL AND NO APPEAL MAY BE TAKEN THEREON. THE JUDGE(S) SHALL MAKE WRITTEN FINDINGS OF FACT WHICH SHALL BE DELIVERED TO THE USEF STEWARD WITH RESPECT TO ANY HORSE EXCUSED UNDER THIS RULE.
USEF: LIFE, SENIOR, ACTIVE AND JUNIOR ACTIVE MEMBERS SHALL BE ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN ALL CLASSES AT REGULAR MEMBER COMPETITIONS, EVENTING COMPETITIONS AT THE PRELIMINARY LEVEL OR ABOVE AND COMBINED DRIVING EVENTS AT THE ADVANCED LEVEL, DRESSAGE AND VAULTING COMPETITIONS AND ENDURANCE RIDES PROVIDED THE RESPECTIVE BREED/DISCIPLINE DUES OR BREED/DISCIPLINE CATEGORY FEE HAS BEEN PAID. A NON-MEMBER MAY PARTICIPATE AS A HANDLER, RIDER, DRIVER, OWNER, LESSEE, AGENT, COACH OR TRAINER AT REGULAR COMPETITION, EVENTING COMPETITIONS, DRESSAGE COMPRTITIONS AND COMBINED DRIVING COMPETITIONS UPON PAYMENT OF $20.00 NON-MEMBER REGISTRATION FEE AND A $5 BREED/DISCIPLINE CATEGORY FEE FOR EACH BREEDING/DISCIPLINE. PARTICIPANTS IN THE FOLLOWING CLASSES ARE EXEMPTED FROM THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE THIS RULE; 1) LEADLINE; 2) EXHIBITIONS; 3) GAMES AND RACES; 4) CLASSES FOR 4-H MEMBERS; 5) WALK TROT AND ACADEMY CLASSES (Academy classes limited to horses used regularly in a lession program); AND 6) USDF INTRODUCTORY LEVEL TESTS, PAS DE DEUX AND QUADRILLE CLASSES. ALSO EXEMPTED FROM THIS REQUIREMENT ARE RESIDENTS OF OTHER NATIONS NATIONS WHO ARE MEMBERS IN GOOD STANDING OF THEIR NATIONAL FEDERATION, AND 7) USEF BEGINNER NOVICE DIVISION, 8) ASSISTANT HANDLERS IN DRESSAGE SPORT HORSE BREEDING CLASSES, AND 9) CITIZENS OF OTHER NATIONS WHO ARE MEMBERS IN GOOD STANDING OF THEIR NATIONAL FEDERATION AND, IN THE CASE OF RIDERS, DRIVERS OR VAULTERS COMPETING IN DISCIPLINES RECOGNIZED BY THE FEI, IN POSSESSION OA A FOREIGN COMPETITOR'S LICENSE TO COMPETE IN NATIONAL COMPETITIONS, WHICH HAS BEEN ISSUED BY THE FEDERATION.
